Tonya Harding is happy and excited to be back in the spotlight ever since her biopic, I, Tonya released last year. Talking to InTouch Weekly, Tonya admitted that after the biopic was released, people got to see another side to her. “I’m actually getting respect. I haven’t had that for a very long time,” she said.

Luckily for her, she is getting a second chance at winning the hearts of the people as she will be appearing on Dancing With the Stars with her partner Sasha Farber. Even though Tonya does really rate herself as a dancer, she is ready to give herself a chance to learn and improve. “I know some basics, but not really [anything]! Sasha gets to teach me everything. Skating didn’t help me in anyway,” she said.

Tonya confessed that she always wanted to be on the show but did not get a chance until now. “I’ve always wanted to be on the show, but I knew it would probably not be possible because you have to be nominated,” she said. “But now, to be asked to be on the show, it’s such an honor.”

While the show is all about competition, Tonya feels that the biggest competition for her is herself. “[I’m] just going up against myself and wanting to be the best that I can be, seeing how far I can push it,” she said. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tonya admitted she could not wait to get back and perform in front of the judges.

“This is truly a memorable moment for me, being able to be asked for one thing, because you have to be nominated and I was just … so thrilled and honored to be part of this, and I’m going to give it my all,” she said. “It has been 27 years basically since I’ve been at the Olympics and in front of judges, and this stepping out is going to be the same thing. I’m glad I get to see it first and feel like, ‘Oh my god, we’re at the Olympics and start over, and go OK … breathe.'”

Tonya added that she is ready to give her best show in the competition. ” I know there are some people out there that don’t like me and that’s OK,” she said. “But I just want to show them I’m a human being; I have feelings, and I’m here to try and do the best I can for myself and for my partner. I don’t want to let him down.”
