Michael B. Jordan is all set to begin work on his next film. The ‘Black Panther’ actor is gearing up to produce a World War II film called ‘The Liberators’. The movie is based on the story of the 761st regiment, which was made up entirely of African-American soldiers.
The unit faced a lot of bigotry and racism during their time in the military. Under General George S. Patton, the all-black battalion helped in securing key areas during the Battle of the Bulge in Germany in the course of the American advancement during the war.
The soldiers’ efforts were so effective that it led to the eventual desegregation of the U.S military.
World War II film is going to be based on a spec script by Madison Turner who also wrote ‘6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain.’ Alana Mayo will be producing the film alongside Michael. Also joining them are Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold from production company Outlier Society. Matt Schwartz is going to be executively producing the film.
The cast still hasn’t been confirmed so we don’t know if Michael will be acting in the movie along with producing it.
Michael is coming off a strong streak following his role as Erik Killmonger in Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ and is getting ready for the release of ‘Fahrenheit 451’ on HBO in May.
Michael is going to be reteaming with Ryan Coogler for ‘Wrong Answer’. Michael’s Outlier Society Productions is also working on other projects which include a sci-fi family drama called ‘Raising Dion’ on Netflix. Micheal also has his hands full with a ‘The Thomas Crowne Affair’ reboot as well as his directorial debut with a film adaptation of the YA novel ‘The Stars Beneath Our Feet’.
Michael has pledged that all his projects will have inclusion riders.
It’s exciting to see Michael so focused on making a mark in the industry! We can’t wait to watch some of his work.
